UPDATED Site Information for February 2012

We continue to update this information as it changes. As of Feb. 1, 2012, we are calling the following tax sites to update their contact information and provide as much additional information as possible. Too often, this contact information is woefully out of date and when citizens call to make an appointment, they become even more confused about what next steps to take. During the next week, we will be calling each tax site location and reporting our results. If you are a site coordinator, please make sure the information on your websites matches the information over the phone. Inaccurate data is not an excuse for poor service.

This location has chronic problems with their telephones ystem and voice mail. We’ve called this location multiple times over the last few days and receive repeated hang-ups. No voice mail. Strange mumblings about a Verizon wireless customer. Just plain weird. Is this another phantom tax-prep site???

CEOC provides Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) outreach and education and provides free tax preparation as an IRS certified Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site.

CEOC wants low-income earners, including seniors and those with limited English proficiency, to take full advantage of the EITC but also to keep the full amount of the benefit. You can do this by avoiding the use of predatory for-profit tax preparers who see EITC as a new untapped market for increased revenue. CEOC is active in supporting laws and regulations that protect everyone’s access to all public benefits.

Springfield Partners and Valley Opportunity Council (VOC) are both Community Action Agencies offering VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) programs during tax season. However, we are two independent agencies; Springfield Partners focuses on serving the City of Springfield and VOC’s services are focused on Chicopee and Holyoke, two small neighboring cities.

Springfield Partners no longer has an office in the Indian Orchard section of the city. All of our offices, and our largest VITA site, is at 721 State St., Springfield MA 01109 and can be reached by calling 413-263-6500.
